Keeping it in the family: sharing wealth among generations

Talking about dying is not a favourite topic of mine, nor of anyone I know. Talking about money is also something a lot of people struggle with. When the two collide, it can be a very tense, challenging and fraught time in peoples' lives.

 

But we have to look ahead proactively. The biggest transfer of wealth ever is going to unfold in the next decade, with several trillion USD moving from one generation to younger ones.

 

Today, on RTHK's Money Talks programme, I discussed how beneficiaries should approach receiving money, as well as the key considerations that those with wealth to pass down should take under advisement.

 

As always, open communication, smart financial planning and sound advice are key elements of making it easier to talk about money, when the time comes.
